Hello, I am Angélica Figueroa
(she/her/ella)
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I have practiced for 14 years. I am Latina, bilingual Spanish and English speaking, first-generation, Mexican American. I am a daughter to immigrant parents. I began my private practice, Raíces y Heart Therapy, because of the need for cultural humility and a trauma informed approach to therapy for marginalized, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. I have worked in outpatient community mental health centers, integrated medical health centers, and held leadership and management roles.
My Background
I received my foundational training for EMDR by The Institute for Creative Mindfulness (ICM). I am a Certified EMDR Therapist through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and I am currently an EMDR Consultant-In-Training working with Jasmine Adams, LCSW, PMH-C. I am working towards my Perinatal Mood Disorders Certificate (PMH-C) and certification in dissociation. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Spanish Literature as well as a Master’s of Social Work. As a member of the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and marginalized communities, I understand the barriers our communities experience when seeking mental health services. It has been and continues to be my life’s goal to bridge the gap of mental health services that exists for marginalized communities.
